*THE MARITIME CENTER IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE DUE TO COVID-19. WE APPRECIATE YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING DURING THIS TIME*
The Maritime Center is centrally located in Beaufort County, where S.C. 170 crosses the Chechessee River. Take the right exit from either direction at the bridge. Most importantly drive safe!
We are excited to share with you the home of the Port Royal Sound Foundation – the Maritime Center. The Foundation renovated the former Lemon Island Marina to establish an engaging and exciting educational experience. The center opened in November 2014 and features exhibits, classrooms, hands-on learning spaces and other areas where you can learn about and celebrate Port Royal Sound. Enjoy diverse and fun opportunities to experience and connect with the Port Royal Sound Area.
There is no admission fee for the Maritime Center. Tours are self-guided with volunteer docents available to answer questions and assist as needed. Some programs and activities do have fees associated with them.
When available and scheduled in advanced, tour guides may be arranged to lead your group through the Maritime Center. Please call 843-645-7774 to inquire.
