The Port Royal Sound Foundation offices and Maritime Center are centrally located in Beaufort County, where S.C. 170 crosses the Chechessee River. Take the right exit from either direction at the bridge. Most importantly drive safe!
The Port Royal Sound Foundation renovated the former Lemon Island Marina to establish the Maritime Center, an engaging and exciting educational experience for all. The Maritime Center opened in November 2014 and features exhibits, live animals and indoor/outdoor hands-on educational opportunities where visitors can learn about the Port Royal Sound. It is a unique experience for the whole family!
There is no admission fee for the Maritime Center. Tours are self-guided with volunteer docents available to answer questions and assist as needed. Some programs and activities do have fees associated with them.
When available and scheduled in advanced, tour guides may be arranged to lead your group through the Maritime Center. Please call 843-645-7774 to inquire.
